KIEV, July 22 - The government will within days increase the capital of Naftogaz Ukrayiny, the troubled state energy company, to enable massive imports of Russian natural gas, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said Wednesday.

The move is aimed at helping Naftogaz to avoid default on payment for gas purchases in early August as the company plans to boost imports to ensure steady gas transit to Europe in the winter.
