KIEV, July 14 – Ukraine’s economy, badly hurt by global financial crisis, may start growing again next year, Economy Minister Bohdan Danylyshyn said Tuesday, citing a forecast made by the International Monetary Fund.
Ukraine’s economy may expand by 3% in 2010, after contracting 14% on the year in 2009, the IMF has forecast, according to Danylyshyn. He said the figures were cited in a memorandum agreed between Ukraine and the IMF for release of $16.4 billion stand-by loan.
