KIEV, April 17 – The National Electricity Regulatory Commission is to approve a so-called "green" tariff, a special increased tariff for electricity generated using alternative energy sources, to stimulate their development.

President Viktor Yushchenko signed the law on amendments to the law on electricity in part of stimulation of the use of alternative energy sources.

According to the law, the green tariffs are not applied only to energy sources generated using blast furnace and coke gas, and using hydropower – only on small hydro power plants.
