KIEV, April 13 – Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko’s government appointed Ihor Umanskiy, the first deputy finance minister, as acting finance minister, according to a resolution posted on the government’s website Monday.
Umanskiy will supervise the implementation of the budget as Ukraine goes through its worst economic and fiscal crises since the breakup of the former Soviet Union ion 1991.
The appointment, dated April 8, comes as the government has started talks with a team of the International Monetary Fund in Kiev over the resumption of lending to the country within its $16.4 billion loan.
