KIEV, April 1 – The Ukrainian government, as a part of its anti-crisis program, could buy some troubled commercial banks to further support them, Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko said on the ICTV channel on Monday night.
"The Ukrainian government is considering another anti-crisis program. It would be the twelfth program on the purchase of [troubled] banks by the state, and [give] support to these banks as state property through the increase in the banks' capital, [so as to] return money to depositors who lost their funds in these banks," Tymoshenko said.
