KIEV, Feb. 17 – Ukraine on Tuesday called on the European Union to coordinate positions while negotiating natural gas imports from Russia in order to boost “collective bargaining power” and secure national interests.

President Viktor Yushchenko made the suggestion in a letter to The Wall Street Journal a month after Moscow and Kiev had ended a major dispute that had kept EU gas supplies suspended for three weeks.
