KIEV, Jan. 30 - ZALK, Ukraine’s sole aluminum smelter, will shortly suspend operation of its alumina-making facilities due to high power prices, according to a report by the Zaporizhia city government.

The development comes as the local government has failed to provide a discount on power prices supplied to the Zaporizhia-based ZALK as ordered by the central government in Kiev last month.
