KIEV, Dec. 23 – Ukraine’s local currency, the hryvnia, which has been experiencing the worst speculative attack in its 13-year history, will stabilize against the U.S. dollar within the next seven days, President Viktor Yushchenko said Tuesday.
The hryvnia at one point last week lost 50% of its value against the dollar over the past three months, but it had recovered later on Friday and Monday. Yushchenko said the pressure will probably continue to ease.
