KIEV, Nov. 25 - President Viktor Yushchenko will take steps to make sure Ukraine pays its debts for Russian natural gas supplies if the government fails to solve the problem by Thursday, a top official said Tuesday.

Bohdan Sokolovskiy, Yushchenko’s top energy sector advisor, said the president will use his “constitutional authority” to make sure the debt is paid.
