KIEV, Nov. 11 – Russian gas giant Gazprom has agreed to supply at least 55 billion cubic meters of gas to Ukraine in 2009, just enough to meet the country’s annual demand for the fuel.

The announcement comes a day after President Viktor Yushchenko has criticized Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko’s government for the lack of progress in gas talks with Russia.
