KIEV, Sept. 9 – Ukraine suspended its reduction of army troops for the first time since 1991 in reaction to Russia’s incursion into Georgia last month.
Defense Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov said the decision was recently supported by the National Security and Defense Council, the country’s top security body, and by President Viktor Yushchenko.
“The reduction of army troops has been stopped,” Yekhanurov said.
