KIEV, July 18 – World Bank experts believe Ukraine needs to adapt its legislation to the international standards and requirements on preventing corruption and supporting competition in order to achieve full integration into the World Trade Organization and to join the WTO Agreement on Government Procurement.
Representative of the Ukrainian-European Policy and Legal Advice Centre Valentyn Dereviankin said in an interview with Deutsche Welle that Ukraine's joining the WTO Agreement on Government Procurement will open the government purchase markets of the U.S. and the European Union to Ukrainian entrepreneurs, and would help attract investors from these states to the domestic markets. But to achieve this, the state needs bring the draft law on state purchases submitted to the parliament into compliance with the WTO and European Commission's requirements, Dereviankin said.
