KIEV, June 19 - The real effective exchange rate of the Ukrainian national currency, the hryvnia, strengthened by 13.66% in January-May 2008, according to the Economy Ministry.

"In May, the real effective exchange rate strengthened by 4.5% (13.66% since the start of the year), which rather reduced the competitiveness of national producers," the ministry stated.
