KIEV, June 9 – The postponement of the introduction of new import duties on cars until Jan. 1, 2009 would allow Zaporizhia Car Building Plant (ZAZ) to retain its pace of production development and sales of products; accumulate funds and complete the reorganization of the plant, the upgrade and technical re-equipment of production facilities; as well as retain existing and create new jobs.
ZAZ Chairman Mykola Yevdokimenko said this, commenting on a decision of Parliament to adopt a law on customs tariffs, which foresees a cut in import duties on cars with engine sizes of from 1 to 2.2 liters to 10% from the start of the next year.
