KYIV, Sept 2 – The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) initiated a change in the name of the change coin from " kopiyka" to "shah," Governor of the central bank Andriy Pyshny said.
"Having studied the history of monetary circulation in Ukraine, we came to the undeniable conclusion that such a name for a change coin as 'kopeck' is actually a symbol of Moscow occupation. Today, the Ukrainian people are getting back everything that was unfairly stolen from them and mutilated by the Kremlin narratives. It's high time to restore justice to the monetary system, to cleanse monetary sovereignty from the slightest kinship with anything Moscow-owned," he said during the presentation of the innovation at the NBU on Monday.
