KYIV, Aug 20 - Currently, 24% of Ukraine's territory is assessed as potentially unsafe due to mining, and 703 people have suffered from explosive objects, Deputy Director of the Mine Action Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Serhiy Reva said.
"Today, according to preliminary data, these are assessments not only of the State Emergency Service, these are assessments of the national mine action body in Ukraine, 24% of our country's territory is assessed as potentially unsafe. It is subject to further survey and demining," he said at a briefing on Tuesday.
