KYIV, Aug 5 – The Food Affordability Index (FAI) in Ukraine as of the end of June 2022 dropped to 6.5, which is 47.6% lower than the pre-war value (12.4), 12% lower than in the first half of June and by 14.9% than in May (7.8).
This index shows how many food baskets (a food basket is a set of food products that an average person needs to live for a month) can be bought by a resident of Ukraine with an average salary, according to a study by the Center for Food and Land Use Research of the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) in conjunction with Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
