KYIV, July 29 – The war-induced economic recession led to a sharp increase in the unemployment rate in Ukraine in the second quarter of 2022 - up to 35%, and a significant decrease in economic activity led to a sharp decline in the income of the country's population.
This assessment was published on the official website of the National Bank of Ukraine.
"By the end of the year, the unemployment rate will decline from peaks in the second quarter of 2022 due to economic recovery and increased demand for labor. However, as in other countries (for example, in former Yugoslavia), even after the end of active hostilities, unemployment will decrease slowly and remain at a higher level than before due to the long-term effects of the war.
