KYIV, June 17 – Russia's Gazprom has the ability to increase natural gas transit through Ukraine by 82.4 million cubic meters per day, which fully compensates for the decrease in the volume of its pumping through the Nord Stream-1, but does not do this due to political rather than commercial factors, Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine LLC (GTSOU) reported on its website.
Currently, Russia claims a technical problem on their part, which will lead to a reduction in gas supplies via Nord Stream 1 by 100 million cubic meters of gas per day. As a reliable supplier, Gazprom should, in addition to voicing the problem, propose a solution to it such as the reorientation of gas flows to other available gas pipelines in Poland or Ukraine," General Director of GTSOU Serhiy Makogon said.
