KYIV, Oct 19 – The Central Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility (CSFSF) may accept the first fuel after obtaining a license from the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate that may take up to three months, acting President of Energoatom Petro Kotin said.
Holtec of U.S. that built the storage will have to complete work to provide infrastructure for shipping fuel from nuclear power plants, he said.
"We have a storage facility that is completely ready. But now we do not have a license from the regulator since there are issues of Holtec in the technology that is incorporated. It needs to be solved to be able to ship fuel," he said, answering journalists' questions during a visit to Zaporizhia NPP on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Energoatom.
