KYIV, Oct 11 – Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said that the disconnection of Ukraine from the Russian Federation's power system will lead to the loss of Russia's strategic influence on the electric power industry not only in Ukraine, but also in European countries.
"The key issue is energy independence. This is an integral part of energy security. Therefore, the integration of the integrated power system of Ukraine into the unified European power system plays a key role in the energy security of Ukraine and the entire European continent as a whole. Disconnection of Ukraine from the power system of the Russian Federation will lead to the loss of the strategic influence of the latter on the electric power industry not only in Ukraine, but also in European countries as well," Shmyhal said at the forum devoted to Ukraine's integration into ENTSO-E, one step away from energy independence held on Monday.
