Firm insists on checking former lawmaker for link to gas pipeline blast
Journal Staff Report

KYIV, Jan 11 – A local natural gas company asked law enforcement agencies Monday to check if a former Ukrainian lawmaker had anything to do with an explosion that disrupted gas supplies to 3,500 households on Saturday.

The blast destroyed 30-meter section of the Urengoi-Pomary-Uzhgorod pipeline that moves Russian gas to Europe, but European transit hadn’t been affected as Ukraine tapped underground gas storage facilities to offset the drop.
