Ukraine’s steel output down 19% on year in Jan-Oct on weak demand

KYIV, Nov 17 - Ukraine reduced steel pipe production by 19% on the year in January through October due to collapsing demand worldwide, according to the Ukrtruboprom association.

Ukraine produced 704,000 mt of steel pipes in the period, including 81,600 mt of pipes in October alone, the association said.

Pipe production at Interpipe Nyzhniodniprovsky Pipe Rolling Plant fell by 37.2%, to 120,300 mt, at Interpipe Novomoskovsk Pipe Plant by 27.4%, to 67,200 mt. Interpipe Niko Tube cut production by 19.2%, to 245,400 mt.
