KYIV, Sept 22 - Ukraine continues to meet the criteria corresponding to a visa-free regime with the European Union, however, further effective, independent work of anti-corruption agencies and avoiding politicization of law enforcement agencies is important, Josep Borrell, Vice President of the European Commission, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy has said.
This is a very difficult issue. As for the suspension of the visa-free regime, the EU has an appropriate mechanism within which regular reports on compliance with all requirements are prepared. The last such report was dated July 10, 2020, it was before the summit. This report confirms that Ukraine continues to meet all guidelines related to the visa-free regime. But at the same time, the importance of further effective, independent work of anti-corruption agencies and avoiding politicization of law enforcement agencies was also emphasized, Borrell said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in Kyiv on Tuesday.
