Ukraine’s economy to shrink 6% on year in 2020 amid COVID-19

KYIV, Aug 10 – The drop in Ukraine's GDP in 2020 will amount to 6% instead of 4.2% expected in April this year, such a consensus forecast on the impact of COVID-19 on the economy and the society was announced by the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture.

According to experts' forecasts, Ukraine is showing a deeper fall than the world economy, it will be 6% in 2020 ... The nature of recovery will depend on the existing quarantine measures in Ukraine, as well as strengthened measures in the conditions of "adaptive quarantine," which will affect the country's economy, as a result of which the recovery will be slow," according to the July consensus forecast, compiled on the basis of averaged forecast indicators of expert assessments of leading experts in the field of macro-analysis and forecasting.
