KYIV, July 2 - The Japanese government will provide Ukraine with $4.2 million in 2020 by funding five projects that will be implemented by UN agencies in Ukraine and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to meet humanitarian needs, support vulnerable populations and rebuild eastern Ukraine and emergency care health system of Ukraine for military personnel.
"Today I am very pleased to announce that Japan has decided to fund five more new projects totaling $4.23 million, which will be implemented in 2020 through four UN agencies, which are the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), as well as the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). With these projects this year, total aid to the Eastern regions reached $51.4 million," Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine Takashi Kurai said during an online press conference on Wednesday.
