McDonald's, Philip Morris, Shell, Unilever face growing pressure in Ukraine
Journal Staff Report

KYIV, Oct 4 – McDonald's, Philip Morris, Jabil Circuit, Shell are Unilever are the latest foreign companies that have experienced pressure from law enforcement, Andy Hunder, President of the American Chamber of Commerce, said Friday.

"Last year, Ukraine signed the first ever agreement in the history of tax legislation with Philip Morris. Instead of fighting in the courts, the investor and the government signed an amicable agreement. We thought this would be a precedent for the future, but, unfortunately, we now see law enforcement agencies' attention to this agreement grow, and we hope that you, Mr. Prime Minister, will be able to enforce this agreement, which was signed in accordance with international and Ukrainian legislation," Hunder said at a meeting of Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk.
