KYIV, Sept 2 – Ukraine may start getting about 1 billion cubic meters of gas after the launch of the interconnector between Ukraine and Poland, and then the volumes could further increase as Poland seks to expand terminal capacity, Energy and Ecology Minister Oleksiy Orzhel said.
"If the interconnector starts functioning, we estimate the volume of gas supplies to Ukraine within 1 billion cubic meters. However, given Poland's plans to increase the capacity of the terminal in Swinoujscie and the construction of a terminal in Gdansk, we can significantly increase the amount of gas that can be offered on the Ukrainian market from Poland, which will ensure full utilization of transit capacities," he told the Interfax-Ukraine on Saturday in Warsaw.
