KYIV, June 7 – Goldman Sachs, after an unexpected decision of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) this week to keep the refinancing rate at 17.5% per annum, has adjusted its forecast for the rate for the end of this year to 15.5%, whereas earlier it expected its more rapid decline to 14% per annum.
According to the report, bank analysts expected the NBU to cut the rate this week by 50 basic points (b.p), while the consensus forecast was from maintaining the rate to lowering it by 25/50 b.p.
