BERLIN, Oct 8 - Berlin's position on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project is unchanged; the government considers the project advisable, first and foremost, economically, as gas consumption in Germany is expected to rise in coming years according to expert forecasts, German government spokesperson Martina Fietz said.
"The Chancellor has repeatedly stated that Germany has diversified energy supply and that we a planning to develop it. This means that we are receiving gas from various countries; from Russia, the UK, Norway and the Netherlands. Germany's demand in the coming years is likely to rise and so the government considers the Nord Stream 2 project advisable," Fietz told journalists in Berlin.
