Ukraine’s move to end Russian cement imports won’t affect supplies
Journal Staff Report

KYIV, Oct 5 – The embargo on imports of Russian cement clinker imposed by the Ukrainian government at the end of August would not create a shortage of products on the Ukrainian cement market, Head of the Ukrcement association of cement producers Pavlo Kachur said.

"There is enough capacity for burning clinker on the Ukrainian market, so we don't need to import it, especially from Russia. According to Pro-Consulting, the capacity of clinker burning facilities in Ukraine is more than 15 million tons. In 2017, we made 6.3 million tons of clinker and imported 877,000 tons from Russia. This means that we can easily replace imports with clinker made in Ukraine," Kachur said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
