KYIV, Sept 1 – Ukraine is massively shifting its foreign trade towards the European Union and away from Russia in a trend that reverses centuries-old geographical connections, President Petro Poroshenko said Friday.

The trend, which accelerated over the past three years due to Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine, has now been firmly set in place by the Association Agreement with the European Union that has officially come into force on Sept. 1.
