KIEV, Feb. 15 – Ukraine on Wednesday declared a state of emergency in the country’s energy sector in reaction to a blockade of anthracite coal supplies from territories controlled by pro-Russian separatists in Donetsk and Luhansk.

The development comes days after supplies of anthracite via railroad lines have been suspended by several dozens of Ukrainian activists protesting the trade with the separatists.
