KIEV, Sept. 30 – The negative economic effect from stopping Ukraine International Airlines (UIA, Kiev) flights between Ukraine and Russia would be around $10 million, the airline said.
UIA Corporate Press Secretary Yevhenia Satska said that this would be unpleasant but not critical.
"Figures that were presented earlier and that varied from $35 million to $42 million are figures of UIA's profit from flights to Russia, not taking into account our expenses. If we divide these losses of $10 million by 5 million passengers carried by UIA during a year, the conventional burden per passenger would be at least $2 to compensate these expenses. The closure of air communication between the countries would inevitably result in growth of the price of air tickets," she told Interfax-Ukraine.
