KIEV, May 20 – Finance Minister Natalie Yaresko has welcomed the statement of U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew saying that the holders of Ukraine's debt may need to make sacrifices.

"Everyone should be ready to sacrifice on the issue," she wrote on her Twitter page on Wednesday.

Lew, while commenting on Ukraine's negotiations with the holders of the Ukrainian debt who are not ready to write off a part of the debt, said "I think the [Ukraine] situation is one in which there is going to need to be a combination of commitment to make the kind of sacrifice for this to work and also enlightened self-interest."
