KIEV, March 23 - Ukraine will probably stop imports of Russian natural gas on April 1 until the parties agree on lower gas prices, Energy and Copal Industry Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn said Monday.
“There is no urgent need to buy the Russian gas” from April 1, Demchyshyn said. “I think we will stop buying it.”
Ukraine has been importing Russian gas over the past four months in line with a deal that was reached in October 2014. The deal is due to expire on March 31 and the parties have been holding negotiations on a new agreement that will cover the imports from April 1.
