KIEV, Feb. 20 – Rinat Akhmetov's DTEK energy holding has contracted 330,000 tons of coal from South Africa, the holding reported.
"In the difficult situation of full consumption of coal stocks at Prydniprovska thermal power plant [TPP] DTEK has signed contracts to supply 330,000 tons of coal from South Africa. The first of the two vessels, arrived to Ukraine on February 8, has been unloaded in full, and coal is being shipped to the company's anthracite coal-fueled thermal power plants. Thanks to this, we managed to launch one more unit of Prydniprovska thermal power plant," said DTEK Energo Electric Power Generation Director Duisen Mergaliyev.
