KIEV, Dec. 15 - Ukraine urged the European Union on Monday to unlock a major interconnector in Slovakia to provide natural gas to countries in Central and Southern Europe after cancellation of Russia’s South Stream pipeline project.
Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary sought to secure direct gas supplies from Russia via the South Stream pipeline across the Black Sea, but the project had been recently cancelled by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
