KIEV, June 12 – Ukraine is considering making modern high-precision “non-nuclear“ deterrence weapons for its army, a high-ranking source in the defense and industrial complex told Interfax-Ukraine.
"The issue of creating the Sapsan new multi-purpose missile system remains open today," the source said.
"It's no secret that the Sapsan state targeted defense program was closed by the previous managers of the Defense Ministry in the summer 2013 for facetious reasons. It's obvious that in the conditions of current and potential challenges and threats to the territorial integrity of the state, the issue of giving Ukrainian-made modern high-precision 'non-nuclear' deterrence weapons, like Sapsan, requires comprehensive and professional analysis," the source said.
