KIEV, Jan. 20 – Talks between President Viktor Yanukovych and opposition leaders aimed at easing the country’s deepest political crisis in decades have failed to materialize after the president refused to show up.

Instead, representatives of the opposition passed a set of demands to representatives of Yanukovych. The demand apparently include immediate resignation of the president and creation of a transitional government that will run the country though elections.
