KIEV, Oct. 7 – A top Ukrainian official said Monday he expected “no cataclysms” with Russian natural gas supplies to Europe this winter, but said there were “discussions” on the matter underway between Kiev and Moscow.
Deputy Prime Minister Yuriy Boyko reacted to concerns that Russia may resort to cutting gas supplies to Ukraine - as happened in 2006 and 2009 – amid possible trade disagreements.
“This business always involves some discussions,” Boyko said in an interview aired by Inter television. “But most importantly, these discussions are in the same vein as transit guarantees are respected in full.”
