KIEV, Oct. 2 – Ukraine will able to fulfill its liabilities on its foreign debts on time, said Olena Scherbakova, the director of the monetary and credit policy department of the National Bank of Ukraine.
"Ukraine pays its debts - we're fulfilling our liabilities. The sum of the liabilities was known at the beginning of the year, everyone knew that we were to pay back the IMF [International Monetary Fund]: $4 billion has been already paid. The payment of $1.6 billion… will be settled. The NBU doesn’t see any fears that the country will fail to pay its debts,” she said on Tuesday.
She said that Ukraine always paid back its debts, even in the period of the financial crisis.
