Customs backlog to persist despite Russian easing, says trade group
Journal Staff Report

KIEV, Aug. 22 – The switch of the Federal Customs Service of Russia back to normal customs clearance will require time before it eliminates the backlog at the borders, the Federation of Employers of Ukraine said.

"It's impossible to [rapidly] switch to the usual regime of customs clearance for Ukrainian goods. The customs procedures started have to be finished in line with legal acts of Russia which are the guiding line for the Federal Customs Service…unfortunately, there are cases of supplies of foodstuff being made to Russia from Ukraine, for example, meat, without any labeling and data on the quality of the goods," the federation said.

The federation plans to monitor the situation with customs clearance of Ukrainian goods supplied to Russia.
