KIEV, May 17 - The number of unprofitable banks in Ukraine fell to nine in Q1, or to 5.1% of the total number of operating credit and financial institutions in the country, the National Bank of Ukraine reported.
According to the report, in January-March 2013 the total losses of the unprofitable banks came to UAH 239.581 million, while the balanced profit of the whole banking sector reached UAH 3.125 billion: the total profit of banks in the country grew by 81% year-over-year, up from UAH 1.725 billion.
