KIEV, March 20 - Ukraine’s steel and coal mining sector executives are scrambling to come up with measures to stop the government’s plan to restrict imports of coking coal, an industry source said Wednesday.
The government, under pressure from state-owned coal mines that are concerned with booming coal imports, approved resolution on March 13 to introduce a quota on coking coal imports.
But the resolution was effectively delayed after steel companies had complained the measure would simply increase their costs of steel production.
