KIEV, March 7 - Ukrainian billionaire Rinat Akhmetov, who controls assets in the steel, coal mining and power sectors, agreed to buy a 25% stake in private Ukrainian natural gas producer Naftogazdobuvannia, Akhmetov’s System Capital Management group announced Thursday.
SCM did not disclose the value of the deal and said it will be closed after all regulatory approvals are obtained from state agencies.
“The SCM group is one of the largest consumers of natural gas in the country,” Oleh Popov, the general director of SCM, said in a statement. “That’s why we are interested in acquiring the gas producing company in Ukraine and in further investments in its growth.”
