KIEV, Feb. 13 - Ukraine will seek to resume imports of natural gas from Turkmenistan as well as shipping this gas further to markets in Europe, President Viktor Yanukovych said Wednesday.
The plan is part of Ukraine’s strategy of reducing dependence on Russian gas imports after Russian gas giant Gazprom had refused to lower its gas prices after almost three years of talks.
Yanukovych, who is on a two-day trip to Ashgabat, told his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov that both countries would benefit from mutual cooperation.
