KIEV, Feb. 13 – The Yuzhny maritime merchandise port, after the implementation of a on its 2012-2015 modernization program, will be the largest deepwater port in the northwest section of the Black Sea, Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Vilkul said during a working visit to Odessa.
The first stage of the port's dredging program foresees the building of the first and second stretch and a new section of the third stretch of the sea approach canal. The total length of the canal will be 10.3 kilometers. The realization of the project is to finish by late 2015. Thanks to the project, the harbor will be able to service vessels with deadweights of over 200,000 tons, the Infrastructure Ministry reported.
