KIEV, Jan. 28 – Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said Monday Ukraine should accelerate imports of natural gas from the European Union in response to an “enslaving” 10-year gas supply contract with Russia.

The comment shows Ukraine will continue to defy Gazprom by reducing imports, even after the Russian company slapped the country with a $7 billion penalty for cutting gas imports in 2012.
