KIEV, Jan. 9 – President Viktor Yanukovych on Tuesday appointed Oleksandr Yakymenko as the chief of the SBU, the country’s security service, replacing Igor Kalinin.
Yakymenko before his latest appointment was the first deputy chief of the SBU and the head of the main corruption and organized crime department at the agency.
By another decree, Yanukovych appointed Kalinin as his advisor, a position often given to senior officials dismissed from their top posts.
